It is an exciting time for the experimental high energy physics (EHEP) community in the country. LHC data analysis is in full swing, INO project has got environmental clearance and building of FAIR-experiments have started. It is therefore most appropriate time to have the next SERC school in EHEP. The VIII SERC-EHEP school will be held in the VECC campus, Kolkata during 20/06/2011 to 10/07/2011. The topics to be covered are:

  • Detector physics and detector system
  • Relativistic kinematics
  • Trigger/DAQ/Control
  • Signal processing
  • Introductory particle physics
  • Introductory high energy heavy ion physics
  • Introductory flavour physics
  • Statistical methods, Monte-Carlo and other techniques
  • Introduction to accelerators
  • Detector simulation and event reconstruction
