The Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) is in the North-Eastern part of the city of Kolkata (erstwhile Calcutta) and is located in Sector-I, Block AF of Saltlake (which is also called BIdhan Nagar).  Kolkata is well connected by air and rail routes with all major cities of India. The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport at Kolkata (airport code: CCU) is a destination for many National and International flights.

VECC is about 12 Km from both the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport and Howrah Rail Station. It is about 8 Km from the Sealdah Rail Station.

The prepaid taxi fare from the airport is Rs. 160/- (approx). The prepaid taxi booth is inside the airport lounge.

The prepaid taxi fare from Howrah Rail station is Rs. 150/- (approx) and is about Rs.125 from the Sealdah Rail Station.

The nearest landmarks of VECC are (apart from Sector-I, block AF of Saltlake): AE Market, Quality More, CAP Camp and Baisakhi.

 From Howrah station, the following buses are available.

 215A, 71, S18, 38B and mini bus to Saltlake.  The nearest Bus Stops are CAP CAMP (nearer) or Baisakhi. It is about 5 min. walk from CAP Camp and about 10 min. walk from Baisakhi. Manual Rickshaw is available from both the bus stops (ask for the Bhabha Centre to the Rickshaw puller).
